Core Weekend – Warwick

As members are aware we are resurrecting the old-style core weekends, with something for everyone, each autumn. This means that the AGM, in January-February and the Core weekend in October-November will be the two events for members not to miss. In October we will be in Warwick. The programme will consist of an optional visit to Warwick or Kenilworth Castle on the afternoon of the 23rd October with an accompanying explanation of medieval sieges. On the 24th and 25th, the itinerary will consist of validation and training sessions in Warwick’s historic courthouse, a guided visit to both the Warwickshire Fusiliers and the Queens Royal Hussars Museums, a CPD battlefield tour planning exercise based around the siege of Warwick in 1645 and, of course, a dinner in a local restaurant and a quiz in a local pub. To keep cost down we are not basing the weekend in one hotel but allowing members to arrange the accommodation that suits them in one of the local hotels.

Members who wish to attend what should be a cracking weekend should now book their accommodation. The optional bit will begin at 1400 hrs on Fri , the official bit at 0900 hrs on Sat and we will disperse at 1600 hrs on Sun. Hotels within walking distance of Warwick centre include
