Battlefields Trust

The Guild of Battlefield Guides is proud to work with the Battlefields Trust in several joint ventures providing benefits for the members of both organisations. This includes but is not limited to:

CWGC

The Guild of Battlefield Guides is proud to work with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission in several joint ventures providing benefits for the members of both organisations. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Guided tours of Commission cemeteries by GBG members
  • Research tools for members leading commercial tours

The Municipality of Almeida

The Guild is proud to work with the Municipality of Almeida, an area in eastern Portugal with many historical connections.  The Municipality has welcomed visiting Guild members on many occasions, and has a range of facilities from which members and their clients can benefit.  In addition to Almeida itself, there are other battle sites nearby which warrant inclusion on battlefield tour itineraries.

In Flanders Fields Museum

In Flanders Museum is one of the key features of the Western Front battlefields at Ieper.  We are proud to have a relationship with the museum in which our members are welcome to work in the research centre and take groups to the museum.  The museum has a permanent exhibition covering the history of WW1 and the battles at Ypres.  There are frequent temporary exhibitions that focus on aspects of confrontation or particular themes of WW1.

British Commission for Military History

The Guild of Battlefield Guides is proud to work with the British Commission for Military History in several joint ventures providing benefits for the members of both organisations.  This includes but is not limited to:

The British Commission for Military History was founded in 1965 as the national branch of
the International Commission for Military History.  It serves as a forum for the discussion and
promotion of military history in the broadest sense, without restriction as to period or region.
The Object of the BCMH is to promote through research, publication and discussion the
understanding of military history in the broadest sense, without restriction as to period or
region.
The BCMH strives to become a leading members’ group for military history, offering an
appealing range of activities, dynamic in research, discussion and publication, and recognized
both for the quality of our work and our social esprit, while attracting and retaining members
from a wide set of backgrounds, whether professionally engaged or not.
