Core Weekend – Warwick

As members are aware we are resurrecting the old-style core weekends, with something for everyone, each autumn.  This means that the AGM, in January/February and the Core weekend in October/November will be the two events for members not to miss.  In October we will be in Warwick.  The programme will consist of an optional visit to Kenilworth Castle on the afternoon of the 23rd October with an accompanying explanation of medieval sieges.  On the 24th and 25th the itinerary will consist of validation and training sessions in Warwick’s historic courthouse, a guided visit to both the Warwickshire Fusiliers and the Queens Royal Hussars Museums, a CPD battlefield tour planning exercise based around the siege of Kenilworth Castle in 1266 and, of course, a dinner in a local restaurant and a quiz in a local pub.  To keep cost down we are not basing the weekend in one hotel but allowing members to arrange the accommodation that suits them in one of the local hotels.  The fixed cost for everyone attending will depend on numbers but will not exceed £30.  Additional costs will depend on which events members attend and are detailed in the application form below.  Anthony Rich has negotiated free admission to Kenilworth Castle on Fri and Sun.  Members of the Battlefields Trust have been invited to join us for this event.

Members who wish to attend what should be a cracking weekend should now book their accommodation and fill in the application form.  Please tick each individual event that you wish to attend and return it to me by 1 September if possible.  The optional bit will begin at 1400 hrs on Friday, the official bit at 0830 hrs on Saturday and we will disperse at 1600 hrs on Sunday.   Members are welcome to invite guests if the guest has not attended a previous Guild Event.
